ABOUT THE EASTSIDE
The suburbs directly East of Seattle and Lake Washington, collectively known to locals as “the Eastside,” make up one of the most beautiful, rapidly growing areas in Washington State and the entire US, and for good reason. Home to several major employers such as Microsoft, Nintendo, T-Mobile and Costco Corporate, the Eastside has seen a major influx of new residents over the past decade. As more people relocate to the area, each of the cities that make up Seattle’s Eastside have grown to offer their own unique brand of dining, recreation and entertainment. What was once the “boring side” of Seattle, is now a haven for foodies, wine and beer connoisseurs, and outdoor enthusiasts.
While definitions vary, five cities make up the central hub of the Eastside – Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, and Issaquah. Surrounding areas including Mercer Island, Newcastle, Woodinville, Bothell, and the greater Snoqualmie Valley would be considered by many to be extensions of the Eastside region as well. If you’re new to the Eastside, or considering moving to the area, be sure to check out our comprehensive Eastside Overview.

ABOUT DISCOVER THE EASTSIDE

Hi, I’m Megan. In 2020 I had two big realizations that led to the creation of Discover the Eastside.
First, that my community was missing something. There was no single resource that I really connected with for people that love exploring Seattle’s Eastside. I always found myself having to look at a handful of individual websites specific to each city or activity, or found information that is more catered to those that live in Seattle.
Second, that it was time for me to create the resource that I wish existed. With over 20 years of living on (and loving) the Eastside, I have a vast amount of knowledge about our amazing local activities and businesses, and an eagerness to keep learning and exploring. Armed with my background in marketing and business operations, and a passion for documenting and sharing what I know, Discover the Eastside was born.
The Discover the Eastside website offers informational pieces laced with insights and opinions from personal experiences, and you’ll find a ton more ideas to keep you exploring all year long on Discover the Eastside’s social media channels. Join me, as I help the world to “Discover the Eastside”!
